Zirakpur has a number of shopping malls including easyday, metro, D mart, Cosmo Mall, big bazaar. It also has showrooms of various established and well known brands such as Reebok, Nike, Adidas etc. It has many eating joints also such as haldirams, dominos, KFC, Mcdonalds and also various dhabas near the highway.

Six new positives found in Rajpura:
The risk of corona virus is increasing in Patiala. On Friday, six new Corona positive cases were reported in Rajpura. All of them were already in contact with the infected. In the midst of increasing threat of covid-19 in Rajpura, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit took an important decision late Thursday and declared the Rajpura Municipal Council's boundary and the city a buffer zone as a precautionary measure. These orders of the District Magistrate came into force immediately.
Until further orders, no person can go out from Rajpura nor can anyone enter Rajpura. Everyday essential supplies to local residents will be supplied by the Council under the supervision of SDM Rajpura Tea Bainith. The vegetable market of Rajpura will remain closed, but the grain market, including petrol pumps, where wheat procurement is going on, will remain open.
Punjab Government on Farmers:
the government claims to be helping Farmers by waiving off loans of Primary Agriculture Co-operative Service
Societies, the fact is that majority of these people are not members of
co-operatives,” said Singh.
“Earlier we used to go to local vegetable mandis and sell our
produce but now since local mandis have been shut, we are in crisis and do not
where to sell our produce. This is the harvesting season, and we have quintals
of vegetables with us but no place to sell. The vegetable which we use to sell
at RS 15 per kg is now being sold at distressed price of Re 1 per kg,” said a
farmer from a village near Kohara, Amrik Singh.
In fact, officials in Punjab tried to use labourers
registered under MNREGA. On an average, there are roughly 70 registered
labourers in every village of the state. But after a week of a procurement
cycle, they realised many of them either can’t work or don’t have the skill set
and aptitude to work in the fields.
The industrial labourers require different skill-sets and
don’t want to work in the fields. The farmers tell us, the local labourers —getting
free grain under welfare schemes, run by respective states as well as from the
Centre and are getting money from various safety nets—are not ready to work in
the fields either.
No relaxation in curfew / lockdown in six districts of Punjab till May 3, the rest will apply in these rules:

Because these districts are declared hotspots and placed in containment zones (infected areas). Hence, strict restrictions on every public activity will continue here. Mohali, Nawanshahar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Pathankot have been named in this list.
No relaxation in curfew nor special exemption for Ramadan: Captain
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has categorically refused to relax any curfew in the state till May 3. He has also made it clear that the situation will be reviewed once again on 3 May. The Chief Minister ordered the Deputy Commissioners to strictly enforce curfew in all districts.
Even during the Ramadan festival starting this week, he has denied any relaxation or relaxation. He clarified that no special curfew passes should be issued to the people for Ramadan. The Chief Minister took this decision after taking stock of the current situation with senior officers of civil and police administration.
Chief Minister is not in favor of relaxing any
The government spokesperson said that the decision has been taken by the Union Home Ministry to relax the lockdown in the areas declared non-union zones in the country from April 20. However, in discussing the ground reality, the Chief Minister has a strong view of the harvesting and procurement of wheat by his government, as well as various industrial / kilns and construction activities where the migrant laborers live. There should be no relaxation except the decisions already taken.
