| Chandigarh Today | Number of positive patients in Chandigarh has increased from 59 to 73

Chandigarh:

The Chandigarh administration has also swollen due to the sudden increase in the number of Corona patients. The maximum number of cases of corona have been reported from Bapudham Colony in Sector-26. In such a situation, the administration has extended the scope of the affected zone of Bapudham on Wednesday. 2500 more people have been added to this zone. Apart from this, people are being monitored by installing 14 CCTV cameras.

There was a stir in Chandigarh on Tuesday when 14 Corona positive patients were found. This is by far the largest number of infected patients a day. Earlier, 9 patients were found on Monday and six on Sunday. On Tuesday, corona was confirmed in 8 patients from Bapudham while 5 patients from Sector-30 and one from Sector-33. हिंदी में पड़ने के लिए क्लिक करे।

With this, the number of positive patients in Chandigarh has increased from 45 to 59. The number of positive patients in Chandigarh was 30 from March 18 to April 25, but Corona has taken an explosive form in the city after 29 patients were found in the next three days. The number of patients increasing day by day has posed a challenge to the authorities from administration to health department. The role of GMCH-32 is in question in this graph of patients suddenly increased, because the chain of most corona patients found in the last three days is linked to this hospital. Four women and one male are among the five Corona positive patients found in Sector-30 on Tuesday morning. Among them, 53-year-old woman and 62-year-old male are from the same family, while 27-year-old woman, 35-year-old woman and 23-year-old woman resident of the sector were also reported positive. At the same time, by the afternoon, six people were confirmed positive from Bapudham Colony.
Five of them are family members of an employee of the Haryana Secretariat who was found infected on Monday, including his 36-year-old wife, three daughters, 18, 16 and 13 years respectively, and a 10-year-old son. According to the health department, the report of a family member has come negative. At the same time, another woman (47) of Bapudham has also been found positive, who is the neighbor of ward attendant of GMCH, who got infected on April 24.

The Mycobacterium w (Mw) vaccine is not a vaccine for Covid-19: and will be used only as an adjunct, said experts at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. The facility was among three premier health institutions, including AIIMS Delhi and AIIMS Bhopal, chosen to conduct trials of Mw vaccine which is normally used to treat leprosy patients.

The prospective randomised trials to study the effectiveness of Mw in the treatment of hospitalized Covid-19 patients. The Mw vaccine will be used as an adjunct for the patients, a statement said by spokesperson on Sunday.
In a recently concluded multi-center trial, it has been found that Mw reduces mortality in ICU patients with severe sepsis. "Mw can potentially decrease the cytokine storm seen in patients with Covid-19 and may thus be of potential benefit in managing these patients and decreasing mortality," added the spokesperson.
Citing the recent trial findings, PGI officials said that the impact of Mw-use on long term safety and efficacy will only be known after the conclusion of this CSIR-supported clinical trial.
The trial will study the use of Mycobacterium w (heat-killed Mycobacterium indicus pranii) as an adjunct to the treatment of critically-ill Covid-19 patients. The officials said that Mycobacterium w (Mw) originally developed as an immunomodulator for leprosy, acts through the toll-like receptor pathway and enhances host-T cell responses.
Mw can potentially decrease the cytokine storm seen in patients with Covid-19, and may thus be of potential benefit in managing these patients and decreasing mortality, the PGI spokesperson told media outlets.
